FG Commissions Ultramodern Medical Facility In Abuja
The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, has commissioned the ultramodern clinical services building and ward extension complex at the Federal Medical Center, Abuja. He stated this Tuesday while commissioning the ward extension building with a well-equipped 64- bedded facility that includes private rooms, semi-private rooms, open wards and also designed to help alleviate the challenge of inadequate bed space in the hospital.
Dr Salako revealed that the provision of effective, qualitative and accessible healthcare is the second pillar of the Health Sector in the country. He stated that with the new additions, the tertiary healthcare system in the country is being strengthened and there is need to travel outside the country for some critical care service like kidney transplantation.
The new three-story ultramodern clinical services building with a dedicated renal unit furnished with 18 hemodialysis beds and equipped to commence renal transplantation program at this centre in a couple of weeks has also been constructed. The minister urged the management and the dedicated staff of the hospital to always put the patient at the centre by delivering top quality service to the clients at all time.
He stated that the buildings and equipment alone could not deliver quality healthcare without a responsible, responsive and well trained staff. “Before patients experience your infrastructure, they will first experience your humanness right from the gate and their experience will be impacted more by the level of empathy and civility they receive,” he noted.
