Did the bible ever say, "Heaven helps those who help themselves"?
The phrase "Heaven helps those who help themselves" is often attributed to the Bible, but it's actually a ancient Greek proverb that was later popularized by Benjamin Franklin.
The phrase doesn't appear in the Bible . Instead, the Bible teaches that God helps those who are humble, faithful, and dependent on Him. For example:
- "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:3)
- "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." (James 4:6)
- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." (Proverbs 3:5)
While the idea of self-reliance and personal responsibility is important, the Bible emphasizes the importance of relying on God's strength and guidance rather than our own abilities.
